The Billionaire's Place

Dream 8/1/2017

While messing around on Google Earth, I find that I have actually transported myself to a billionaire, rock stars backyard. This yard is extremely luxurious. Large marble steps lead down to a reflection pool. In the middle of the pool is a separate, square pool. On the edge of the reflection pool, I see a few guitars connected to an amplifier. I check out all three guitars and find that they are bass guitars.

I look over to another side of the reflection pool and see a dugout full of guitars. I walk over to check them out. I desire to play an expensive guitar. Browsing through the instruments, I come across a black Gibson SG. I pull it from the collection. Right then, the billionaire musician comes running from his house toward me.  He begins to berate me for trespassing and playing with his toys. He then trudges through the reflection pool toward the separate pool in the middle. He shows me his pet Great White Shark that lives in the separate pool. Dream ends.

I wake up.

Bicycle Blues

Dream 5/26/2017

I'm over at my sister and brother-in-law's house. At one moment, my brother-in-law starts being very rude to me. I throw a few expletives his way and storm out the door. I jump in my Jeep to leave but then decide to take a bicycle instead.

I ride the bike out of their neighborhood. At one point, I ride across a large patch of grass. It becomes too difficult and so I climb off the bike and walk the rest of the way. When I get to the road, I feel the tires to make sure they are aired up. They are flat. I try to think. My plan is to find a gas station and use one of their air pumps to air the tires back up.

As I ride on, I find myself in a large department store. Tables lines the floor and hundreds of people are here. It's some kind of convention or celebration. The man from the electric guitar Youtube video is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiAwOW-nXIQ. He has created a new instrument, the piano-guitar. He is showing it off at the store. Dream ends.

I wake up.

My Girl

Dream 3/29/2017

I work at a thrift store. Every time somebody brings in a guitar I have to check it out. I love guitars. I'm over in the guitar section looking at some of the new merchandise when some co-workers ask for help in the back. The backroom is a giant warehouse. At this time we are setting up a huge number of chairs for a ceremony. I help with the chairs but we don't have enough. That night a thousand people gather in the warehouse and find their seats. On the big screen, we watch the movie "My Girl." So much has been cut out of the movie. It's like watching a whole different movie. I stand up at the end and voice my complaint to the crowd about the movie.

After everyone leaves, we have an end of the world party. A few of the guys go out to get some ice cream but get drunk instead. On their way back to the party, they crash the van and tip it. I decide to go out and get myself an ice cream sandwich at a nearby gas station. I get lost. I never return to the party. Dream ends.

I wake up.

Foreign Relations

Dream 3/20/2017

My family and me are visiting Canada. One day, we decide to eat at a fancy, two-story restaurant. My sister Morgan gets lost in the restaurant so I try to find her. A man, probably the host, shows me around. I spend all my time looking for her when she was eating with the family all along. Now the family is done eating. I regret not dining with them. Nothing stings like regret. I wave at a cute woman as her and her boyfriend walk out. She says something about a hottie over there, talking about me. She walks over to our table and tells her boyfriend to close his eyes. she goes in to kiss me and pulls back. Then she goes in again and kisses me on the lips, slobbering all over me.

I am in Peru, sick as a dog, sleeping in a disease ridden bed, hoping to get back home to America.

A ton of teenagers occupy my old church in Anderson, Indiana. New life church is a now a big volleyball court. All of the older kids are playing and partying late into the night. It is my bedtime but I stay out. I don't feel comfortable around the older kids. I feel very self conscious.

My friend Joel Doty is up on stage playing a song he has written. I am holding his old guitar that he gave me once upon a time. He steps off the stage and starts talking to me as I put his old guitar in its case. I have trouble latching one of the buckles on the case.

A parent of one of the kids puts a movie on the projector. He wants everyone to see it. I'm not completely sure what it is about except it has to do with injustice in some form. I lean over to the kid and tell him, "if you think this is bad, you should've seen me in Peru." Dream ends.

I wake up.

High School Blues

Dream 3/16/2017

In high school, I walk to my locker to get the books for my next class. I see that my top locker is open which is weird because I never use my top locker due to the lock that I can never get open. I walk to my next class. I open the door and realize I'm in the wrong class. The room I am standing in is an advanced college English class. Everyone is staring at me. They all yell at me to get out, telling me that I don't belong here, that this class is for smart people. I need to go to the "regular" English classroom.

I have a homework assignment to take something from the school and refurbish it into something new. A fellow student offers to help me. We grab a metal trashcan and sit on the gym floor. He does all the work. He turns the trashcan into a colorful tree with animals and fruit springing from it.

I walk out to the student parking lot and my guitar and amp are set up to play. I pick up my guitar and the strings shock my hands when I strum them. As I continue to play, fire shoots from my amp. A guy named Matt walks over and asks to play my guitar. I warn him that something is wrong with it. As he begins to play, fire once again shoots from the amp and smoke starts billowing from the guitar. He puts it down and leaves.

I start to pack everything up into my Jeep. A fellow student named Tim offers to give me a ride home. He jumps into my Jeep, as do I. I ask him if he has ever driven a Jeep before and warn him that he can't make speedy sharp turns or he could tip the vehicle. I tell him that I know three people who have died from flipping their Jeeps. He drives me home taking a different way than I take. Dream ends.

I wake up.

Prom Nightmare

Nightmare 2/25/2017

A large gathering of students is taking place at the local high school. I believe it's prom although nobody is dressed up. A group of guys from my class (some of which are friends) pull guns from their coats and start firing at the students. I run to a stairwell and hide myself while I call 911. After I get off the phone I make a run for the entrance of the school but for some reason make my way down into the basement instead. I walk through a maze of hallways in the dank, dusty under-structure of the school. Behind me I can hear the shooters, they're all walking down the stairs. I hide in a dark alcove and hope they don't find me.

They do. But they don't seem to mind me being there. Perhaps it's because I am friends with many of them. Screech Powers, from "Saved By The Bell," is the leader of their group.

I pull out a guitar and start to play. I listen to their plans. They have rigged bombs in the basement to blow. The whole school will collapse on itself. They're going for the Eric and Dylan bombs in the Columbine cafeteria strategy, however, this time it may work. They plan on dying, all of them. I don't. After playing the guitar for a while, I make up an excuse to leave. I say, "I'll be right back, I need to go get a pick, my thumb is starting to hurt from strumming." They don't seem to mind at first, but as I make my way through the maze of tunnels and hallways of the basement, I suddenly hear them behind me. I run back up the stairs to the entrance of the school.

The police are here, but before I can tell them what the killers plan to do, the bombs start to blow. I run as fast as my body will allow, as far as I can away from the school. When I look back I see the whole building in a blaze of fire. I don't see anybody outside of the building. I must be the only one who made it.

I run to a nearby neighbors house to call the police again. He takes me into his cellar where I meet a friend who I haven't seen for years. Eventually, we leave the cellar and go about our business. Dream ends.

I wake up.

Paperback Writer

Dream 2/11/2017

The town I am in is nearly empty. Dead. Nobody is here except for the ferry operators. The ferry is a hover ship. It hovers twenty feet above the ground. I take the ferry and tour the ghost city.

In South Africa, I visit a library. Whenever I visit a bookstore or library, especially one in another part of the world, I like to check if they have any of my published books. I move down the last names of each book on the shelf until I get to "Laverty." Wow, they have one. All the way in South Africa. I grab it. It's my guitar tutorial book. It teaches beginning guitar students how to play chords and then songs with those chords. This particular book seems to have been used a lot. The pages are frazzled and there are papers left inside, probably from the last user.

The clerk asks if I want to check that one out. I mention that I'm just looking at it because I wrote it. He is pleasantly surprised and tells me that I can just have it if I want. I tell him, "no, it looks like it's getting good use here." I put it back on the shelf. Dream ends.

Stage Fright

Dream 1/1/17

My mom is getting married. My only wish is to be in the band that plays for her wedding.

The day of the wedding arrives. I walk into the banquet hall and hear the band. They sound terrific. I see my cousin Matt is the lead singer. I tell a stranger lady that I want to play electric guitar. She brings me up to the stage and tells Matt that I want to play electric guitar. He's fine with it. I grab an acoustic-electric guitar lying on the ground. He tells me to take his guitar. We trade. "Play any song you want, man," he says to me. I ask him if he knows "Island In The Sun" by Weezer. He knows the song but he doesn't know how to play it.

eventually, I just start to play. Everything I do on the guitar sounds horrible. As Matt and the band continue to play, I just try to keep up. Many people in the crowd start laughing. Days later they would still be talking about how bad the guitar player was. One person even told me to go kill myself.

Standing in a museum with my family, I wonder if I am good at anything. My family reminds me of my bowling trophies. They show them to me to make me feel better. One is a normal trophy but the other two are worth a lot of money. They are made of ivory. One is worth $9,000.00 and the other $39,000.00. Dream ends.

There's No Place Like Home

Dream 2/24/2015

My family and I move into a new house.

We love it. We discover a big room that was hidden but whenever we go into it, we get a sick feeling in our stomachs. We stay out of this room. As time goes on, the room bothers us even more. The sick feeling has become one of evil. We feel an evil presence in that room.

One night, we decide to leave. My sister grabs her kids and gets them into the car. My mom and I are the last ones in the house. She walks over to the open door to the room to close it but then walks in and turns around and looks at me. Something is wrong with her eyes. They aren't her eyes.

She slams the door closed.

I try my hardest to get into the room. I try the knob but it won't turn. I cannot get in. Suddenly the door opens by itself. My mom is lying there on the floor lifeless. I go to grab her. But just then, her body levitates from the floor and is lifted into the sky where it disappears.

I run from the house and jump into the car. I tell my sister everything. We drive off.

-

Next to the house is the Amityville house. On the other side of the house is a mansion. The mansion is holding an open house today. My dad, sister and I decide to have a look. The place is packed with home buyers. We pretty much stick together. We walk into a study and on the desk find a pile of satanic verses. We wonder if this has something to do with the evil inside our house.

I split from the group and wonder upstairs. Their are countless staircases in this house, all leading to the same place. I find myself in the library, which is a big, open space. I find the famous music artist, Joel Levi, playing a guitar on top of one of the bookshelves. Granted, the bookshelves are pretty short. I notice that the shelves not only contain books, but also guitars. I grab a guitar and play alongside Joel. A crowd gathers, obviously not to hear me. Joel blows the crowd away with his poetic verses and inspiring voice. After awhile, the crowds begin to trickle down into just a few passersby.

I bid Joel a farewell and head on my way.

-

After a few days, my family decides that they like that mansion and want to make an offer. We drive back to the luxury house. We knock on the door. It opens. The person who opens it is none other than my mom. The air inside my body evicts. I don't know what to think. She leads us up to the second story of the house. She tries to get us to say the satanic verses. We decline. She presses us. As we say no, her appearance begins to change until she no longer looks like my mom but instead has the appearance of a demon.

An angel of God steps in so the demon does us no harm. He leads us to the attic of the mansion. He creates a window in the wall of the attic. Within the window, he shows us my mom. He tells us she is doing fine and is happy. He tells us that, like Jesus, she chose to give her life to save my family. Dream ends

I truly wake up.

The Price is Right

Dream 6-13-13

My father is a contestant on The Price is Right. My mother and I are sitting behind the cameras watching. They keep calling my dad "the Vietnam vet." This seems strange to me. He didn't fight in Vietnam. My mom takes her camera out and snaps a picture. I grab her by the shoulder and pull her back. She screams. I tell her that she can't disturb the production. Bob Barker walks toward her and takes her camera away. My dad wins the show.

In 1993, My dad is playing his guitar on the couch. His shirt is off, and he's wearing a baseball cap. The kids are running throughout the house, playing.
Years later, my brother and I feel the need to play The Price is Right. We travel to California. My dad comes with us. We make it to the show. We ask for an information card but all the name cards are filled. We find one that is empty. I fill it out. I sit down and wait for my name to be called. Dream ends.

I wake up.
