Red Door

I have left my job at Westrock to go back to school. I study banking and when I am done, I travel to my dad's work to offer my services. It's been a while since I've seen him last. He's gained weight and no longer is he donning stylish jeans but rather baggy farmers clothes. I am happy to see him. We hug and I tell him that I'm looking for a job. He gladly offers me one. I will be his recycling company's newest banker.

I explore my new workplace. I find myself on the rooftop opposite my work. The roof has a bridge that leads to the next building. I cross it. I enter a corridor that leads to one red door. There is a screen in which many words are flashing at random. At one point the screen spells "potato chip." It's revealed to my mind that this is a place where the rich and famous mingle. The screen is now telling me the exit the premises. I do so.

Room For Rent

Nightmare 4/25/2018

My friends Holly, Lynn and I have just finished a semester of university. Holly has secured me a room in a house full of guys, also strangers. Lynn has furnished the apartment. I go to the house to see it. It is tiny and cluttered, but I like that.

After the girls leave, I check out the room some more and realize that there is a door in the back. It opens to a staircase leading down. I walk the stairs and find a kitchen right out of the 1950s with red and white checkered tile floors. I walk into another room and find a man cave of sorts.

I walk through another door, and I am outside but under the house. The house is set up like a coastal home. The first floor is on stilts in case of a hurricane. I walk to one side of the down under and notice my neighbor behind a fence doing a funny dance. I can only hear the noise of their feet pattering the ground. In some odd way, I find it unsettling.

I walk back to my room. Since I am alone, I check out the rest of the house. I am suddenly overcome with a sense of fear. I don't feel alone, but I don't feel as if the person with me is human or sound. The place I am living in is scaring me. I don't see anything, but I can feel it. I should leave, but I don't. Dream ends.

The Performance

Dream 8/6/2017

My friend, Tim, is performing today. He has chosen a few of his close friends to perform alongside him, me being one of them. Many girls from our school have showed up to support Tim as well.

I am trying to figure out what to wear. I have a few shirts and ties but in the end, I decide to wear all black. Black collared shirt. Black tie. Black shoes. At one moment, before the show, another classmate is making fun of me in front of the girls. He asks me, "so Keith, did you go to college?" I give him a look as if to say, "I don't want to talk about this here in front of everyone." He continues to press the issue. I say, "yes I did but I dropped out because I hated it. Just like I hated high school." He starts to laugh. Some of the girls berate me for my life choices. I feel disgusting in this moment. Like a first class failure.

The show begins. We are on top of a stage that is floating in the sky. Tim is doing all sorts of odd tasks. Like taking objects and throwing them over the side into water. Kicking worms along the stage and calling them kids. I really don't understand this performance. Dream ends.

I wake up.

High School Blues

Dream 3/16/2017

In high school, I walk to my locker to get the books for my next class. I see that my top locker is open which is weird because I never use my top locker due to the lock that I can never get open. I walk to my next class. I open the door and realize I'm in the wrong class. The room I am standing in is an advanced college English class. Everyone is staring at me. They all yell at me to get out, telling me that I don't belong here, that this class is for smart people. I need to go to the "regular" English classroom.

I have a homework assignment to take something from the school and refurbish it into something new. A fellow student offers to help me. We grab a metal trashcan and sit on the gym floor. He does all the work. He turns the trashcan into a colorful tree with animals and fruit springing from it.

I walk out to the student parking lot and my guitar and amp are set up to play. I pick up my guitar and the strings shock my hands when I strum them. As I continue to play, fire shoots from my amp. A guy named Matt walks over and asks to play my guitar. I warn him that something is wrong with it. As he begins to play, fire once again shoots from the amp and smoke starts billowing from the guitar. He puts it down and leaves.

I start to pack everything up into my Jeep. A fellow student named Tim offers to give me a ride home. He jumps into my Jeep, as do I. I ask him if he has ever driven a Jeep before and warn him that he can't make speedy sharp turns or he could tip the vehicle. I tell him that I know three people who have died from flipping their Jeeps. He drives me home taking a different way than I take. Dream ends.

I wake up.
