The Rooftop

Dream 7/14/2015

I am given a job at my school to walk the rooftop and watch for pirates in the distance.

I walk on one side of the roof and follow the edge all the way around. The roof is shaped like a horseshoe. Some of my friends join me in the walk. It becomes clear to me that the roof has become a storage area for the school. There is stuff everywhere.

We wander over to one of the more lonely parts of the roof and find an elevator. We don't remember an elevator in our school. Just past the elevator is a door, kind of hidden, kind of not. You could find it if you were looking. We open it. We walk through. We come to a section of the roof that hasn't been touched for years but just like the other side, it is full of stuff. Stuff from years ago. We find a beautiful leather sectional pushed up against the wall, a pole with endless Halloween costumes strung across, strange machines that make lemonade in odd ways. We even find a canopy with gold and diamonds and rare jewels hidden away. I think that this section of the roof belonged to the senior class years ago and its been forgotten.

On the other side of the roof, the normal not-so secret side, we find hidden in the corner many molotov cocktails. My friends and I get a sneaking suspician that the pirates have been here before and they have stashed weapons for the war. A noise catches our attention. A pirate ship is docking next to the roof. The ship is full of battle-thirsty men ready to kill. I tell my friends to grab the cocktails and light them. Before the ship is completely docked, we launch the molotovs into the boat. The men have nowhere to run. If they jump they will die. If they stay they will die. I guess you can figure out the outcome.

We win the battle over the pirates. Perhaps they were coming for that secret stashed treasure over in the old senior wing. We celebrate. My friend, Tim, tries out one of the those strange lemonade machines. He follows the instructions. He takes a clear glass bowl, and puts it under the first spout and some ice falls into it. The second spout drops sugar, the third must be flavoring or something and finally the fourth is lemonade. I don't want to try it because it's been there for years, everything in it is old but Tim tries it and is pleased. Another friend, Kelso, comes over and tries it and likes it as well.

My shift is over for the day. As we head for the exit, Tim finds a fridge full of drinks. I look at the expiration date for a Mountain Dew. It's only a few months old. Have at it, Tim. Dream ends.

I wake up.

Elevator Pitch

A Dream From My Past

I run into an old friend from high school one day.

Josh.

He is walking toward an elevator. I run after him to catch up on life. I reach him. We stand in an elevator with several strangers. The doors close. The elevator starts moving downward. Josh immediately hits the "STOP" button on the panel. The elevator comes to an abrupt stop. I'm standing in the corner watching, trying to figure out what is happening.

Josh pulls out a clear bag full of white powder. Cocaine. Everyone in the elevator pulls out cash. Josh says, "Okay, everyone pass your money to the right." They follow his command. He starts passing around small bags of the cocaine.

When business is finished, he presses a button to continue the elevators descent. The doors open and Josh exits. I follow him.

In front of us is a group of church goers wearing christian t-shirts. Somebody points out Josh as being a drug dealer. One of the church goers, an old lady, walks over to Josh and starts yelling and demeaning him. Josh doesn't respond. I jump in between them and face the lady. I yell back at her in anger, "If you people would stop condemning people and actually start trying to help them, maybe their wouldn't be so much bad in the world." Dream ends.

SkyCoaster

Dream 9/17/2014

A brand new roller coaster  has opened up. The line seems endless. The ride is so tall that you have to take an elevator to the top. My family is at the front of the line. I'm at the back. Someone sees my tickets and tells me that I'm supposed to be at the front. I get moved to the front with my family. We step onto the elevator. We get to the top. We are so high in the air that a sick feeling overcomes me. Fear grips me. Dream ends.

I wake up.

Jailbird

Dream 2-6-14

A friend and me are in a toy store. Walking down one of the aisles, we decide to scale the store shelves and climb into the ceiling. My friend goes first. He climbs the toy shelf and successfully makes it. My turn. I climb the toy shelf and just as I'm about to pull myself up into the ceiling, the tile comes loose and I fall down into the toys, knocking over the shelf.
The employees of the store come and tell me that I have to pay a vacations worth of money for the damage that I caused. I don't argue. I just pay it.
Now I am a criminal. The authorities are after me everywhere I go. They're chasing me. In this city, there are many hotels. I walk into one and head toward the elevators. I press the "up" button. Ding. I get into the elevator and press the 47th floor.
I am now on the top floor. The cops are just minutes behind me. I must find an escape. I find a door to the outside. I walk onto the roof of the hotel. I am 47 stories above the city. Just as the cops get to me, I jump. I now have a parachute, I pull it and glide toward the ground of another hotel. In a James Bond-like manner, I land on the sidewalk, take off the parachute and brush myself off.
I walk into another hotel to the front desk. I purchase a room for the night. They give me a room. I make my way up to the sixth floor where my room is. In the lobby on the sixth floor is a restaurant, in fact, there are restaurants on every floor. I get to my room and finally feel comfort that no one knows where I am.
I now have a friend with me. An accomplice. Julia Roberts.
Julia and I walk aimlessly through the hotel. For no reason, we just walk. We come to a buffet on one of the floors. I steal a roll. I feel bad for stealing, so I pay the cashier. He says I gave him more money than the roll is worth, so I can take some more food. I take another roll. I come to a sandwich buffet where there are several options for meat, cheese and bread. I grab a handful of meat, followed by a handful of cheese, then I grab two pieces of rye bread and finish it off. I eat the sandwich as me and Julia wander the hotel.
The cops find out where I'm staying. They come for me. As they make it to the sixth floor where my room is, I walk out the front door to a black Cadillac where I find Julia. I get into the car and Julia and I drive off never to be seen again. Dream ends.

I wake up.

Hotel

Dream 12-20-13

I'm in a hotel.

I don't know which floor I am on, but I know it's not the first floor. At one end of the hallway, down on the right, is my home. That is also where my mom lives. At the other end of the hall is a food court, on both sides. Lining the left side of the hallway wall, on the other side of my house, are four restaurants that have gone out of business. One of the four restaurants is actually a bar that my friend Joel once performed in. Joel is a musician. He is also visiting today.

Joel and I walk down to my house so he can see my mom. While we are there, I tell him that he once played in the bar down the hall. He becomes very quiet and gets emotional. I walk with him down to the bar. We stand in the doorway and reminisce. In a flash, Joel walks out of the bar and goes to one of the buffets in the the food court.

Joel meets the man who owns the bar. The owner gives us the dime tour of his bar. He shows us all the bands and artists pictures on the wall. I remember seeing Gene Simmons from KISS. He mentions that he printed all of these posters out of his computer which is a very old model that would never have the ability to do such a thing. I don't know if he is kidding or not.
Joel and I and a few other friends who just appeared walk back down to the food court. We stand in line to the buffet. Joel mentions that this man in a few minutes is going to turn on the music and that he is going to dance. One by one each of us says aloud, "I'm gonna dance too." In the line to the buffet, one of the cooks asks, "what can I get for you." I respond, "just a roll please." she says in a rude manner, "this is a buffet, you can't just get a roll." I'm a little setback. I answer, "damn.. okay then." She starts to put a bunch of food on my plate. Across the room are friends that I hung out with years before. They are drenched with water. I don't say anything to them. They walk away.
-
Things change quite rapidly. Almost like a different story. The man in charge (whoever that is) tells one of us to kill the other (I'm not included in this mess). So, three of us step into an elevator that is in the bar, and place a plastic clothes bin on our head. Suddenly we are not in the elevator but rather in the shallow waters of the ocean on a beach. One of my friends says to the other, "you need to drown, that's what the man told me to do." We eventually come to the conclusion that no one is going to die today. We throw off the plastic clothes bin and look around. We know the man in charge is on the beach making sure the job gets done, however, he isn't on this part of the sand, so we run. My friends find a van and get in it, however, some things in this story change.
-
My friends drive away, but we are no longer on a beach, we are in a hallway with wooden floors. I am a normal sized person and my friends are itty bitty. They are driving a hot wheels car. We have miles of hallway to go before we get back to the hotel lobby. Spread across every hallway floor are toys, mostly other hot wheel cars but also other toys. My friends keep driving. I run behind them. Someone mentions that the man in charge and his goons are behind us in his own car. He isn't in sight, I just hope we can keep the speed and never see him. I close doors as we go, so to slow the bad man down. We come to a bathroom and the car stops. "Look at that," someone says. Behind the toilet is a giant black spider. I get my friends out of the van they are in and rush down the hall to find another hot wheels car. I find one that opens from the top. It looks like a fast car. They get in. They start to drive. It is a fast car, so fast that I can't even keep up. They drive out of sight. All I can hear is the buzz of the little engine in the distance. Dream ends.

I wake up.

The Murder

Nightmare 6-3-13

I'm in a hotel room sitting with another boy. His heart is full of evil. There are a couple of kids here as well. The evil boy starts to rape one of the kids. I grab the children and run. We escape the room and make it through the hallway to the elevator. In the downstairs lobby, I wait for the boy with evil in his heart. The elevator doors open, and I walk toward him. I start to beat him senselessly. I punch him time and time again. There is blood covering him, me, and the lobby floor. I take one last look at him. I think he is dead. I don't feel bad for what I've done. Dream ends.

I wake up.
