Thunder and Lightning

Dream 5/31/2018

A party is being held at my pastor's house. My cousin DJ and I attend, along with the rest of my family and hundreds of fellow classmates from my high school.

When we arrive, we greet and hug the pastors family in the front yard. I walk around the pastor's house. He has a beautifully landscaped yard. His home resides near a river. On the river is a twenty-foot waterfall. The image is so serene, I find myself in an almost trance-like state, admiring nature.

I walk around the front yard to look for my cousin. I see him playing soccer with several other kids. Suddenly I feel out of place. I'm no athlete. The ball gets kicked my direction. I softly kick it forward, setting up for a wows-er of a punt. Unfortunately, the first kick was a little too hard, and I have trouble catching up to the ball. By the time I do, it's already back where the boys are playing.

I walk inside the pastors home and lie down on the couch. I am alone in this room, which makes it peaceful.

DJ finally finishes up with his game of kick the ball, and we walk over to the basketball hoops. He asks if I want to play a game of pig. Suddenly, we are no longer outside, but rather in a gymnasium. Around thirty kids are lined up to play knockout (or as some people know it, thunder and lightning). DJ and I join the line. I look around and recognize students that I haven't seen for a decade, maybe even longer. It comes to my turn. I grab the basketball and try my best not to get eliminated. Swoosh! Nothing but net, well, maybe some rim, but it went in, and that's all that counts. I toss the ball to the next person in line.

Throughout this game, I lose contact with my cousin again. After sinking an almost half-court shot and receiving loud cheers from the line, I step out and look for DJ. I run into a friend, Derek. We catch up for a moment. Another friend, Sam, is standing in line. He is wearing a cheerleading outfit and screaming for us to notice. He dances embarrassingly. I point him out, but Derek doesn't see him. Dream ends.

Swell Timing

A Dream from My Past

I'm walking through a large, empty mall with my mom. We sit down at the food court and talk. We decide to leave the mall. We walk and walk and walk and walk. When we get to the entrance, she remembers that we parked at the other entrance. I decide to wait while she gets the car.

I'm walking up a snowy trail in Middletown, Indiana. There is a house on my left but I don't know who lives there. I keep walking. I think about the movie Schindler's List.

I browse the shelves at a local, used bookstore hoping to find an interesting read. I pull one from the shelf. It's King Kong. I loved the movies but never knew there was a book. I buy it.

I'm in the basement of a youth pastors house. I'd say about forty teenagers are here listening to the pastor speak. Another kid insults me. I decide to leave. As I'm walking up the stairs, the whole group of teenagers erupt into a brawl. Swell timing. Dream ends.

Wiley

Dream 6-25-13

I am moving to Wiley, Indiana. We find a house that we like. It is a walk-out ranch. The top story is the house and the bottom story is a full size church. The couple that is selling the house are old and wanting to move on with their lives. I start to dream. I want to pastor this church.
-
People flood the church. It is a busy Sunday. Possibly a normal Sunday. A man walks up to me and begins telling me that we need to get all of these people out of this building because the mafia needs to hold a meeting in the lobby. If these people are not gone when the mafia come, there will be bloodshed.
-
I do my best to empty the building, but it is not fast enough. sure enough, the mafia come. They draw their weapons and start to shoot. People die. I hide in a crawl space near the bathrooms. The mafia end their murdering and sit down in the lobby, plop their feet up on the table as if they didn't just end several innocent lives.
-
Later on, I meet with a few friends in a cabin right outside the church. One friend is sick, he needs help. The other friend writes down an address of the hospital on a piece of paper. I go inside the church to grab an address book. Somehow, I lose the address. The friend who is not sick comes in to check on my progress. Finding out that I've lost the address, he draws his hand back and punches me right in the eye.
-
Because I've moved to a new city, I must find a new school. My mom wants to send me to a public school. Luckily, a friend from my past has moved to the very same city. He's going to a private school. Being that its my last year of high school, I want to be in a place where I know at least one person. I ask him what school he's attending. He tells me, "chocolate chip christian school." Dream ends.

I wake up.
