The Republic Of Florida

My family embarked on a journey through the heart of the New Republic of Florida, its gleaming capital rising before us like a monument to a new era. A city transformed, where the name of Donald Trump loomed large, and a palpable sense of change crackled in the air. It was a landscape shaped by the hands of ironworking cowboys, defying gravity as they constructed towering behemoths that scraped the very heavens.

As our car traversed the immaculate streets, we gazed upon the colossal skyscrapers, still in their embryonic stages, reaching skyward like giants awakening from a deep slumber. The symphony of construction echoed through the air, a testament to the indomitable spirit of progress and the promise of a brighter future.

In the midst of this architectural metamorphosis, a newfound hope settled within our weary souls. We embraced the dawning of an era that held the promise of change, of possibilities yet untapped. A collective anticipation swelled within us, like a chorus of whispered dreams, as we eagerly anticipated the marvels that awaited us on this journey into the unknown.

Amidst the towering structures, we glimpsed a glimpse of the future, a tantalizing taste of the yet-to-be. And with every passing moment, our anticipation grew, fueled by the belief that within this city of dreams, anything was possible.

Only time would tell. For now, we embraced the intoxicating allure of progress, embracing the vision of a city that dared to dream big. And as our car continued its journey through this evolving landscape, we carried within us a mix of excitement and trepidation, our hearts filled with the anticipation of the things to come, be they blessings or curses in disguise.

Sunshine On My Shoulders

Dream 12.8.2017

My family is on vacation in a beach community. I believe Florida. My mom and I go browse some of the nearby shops. I look at a sign that says "Men's Watches." Everything below the sign is for women, not men. I eventually find a Timex watch that I like with a band that changes colors. I show my mom. She buys it for me. It will be a Christmas present. I look at my new watch and a new pair of blue jeans, both purchased by my mom and think to myself that I am pretty blessed.

We return to the hotel room, which is literally ten feet from the ocean. I walk out, prop my elbows up on the handrail and look out at the beach. There is a couple of strangers standing near me. My social anxiety creeps up and I walk back into the hotel room.

My family goes to the beach. My sisters and I keep asking our parents if we can get into the water but they won't let us. They worry about our safety. We walk down the beach. I look out toward the ocean. There is now a canal between the sand and the ocean. The canal comes onto the land and enters a dark tunnel. Boats that are designed to look like giant sharks are exiting the tunnel and headed for the ocean. My sisters and I run down the canal. My parents stay on the beach.

We find ourselves under a bridge where many young people are sitting around, talking and playing games. A beautiful black girl comes over to me. Out of nowhere, I kiss her on the lips. Her breath is terrible. She asks me where the locker rooms are. I look over my shoulder. I point her in the right direction. Dream ends.

Vacation

Dream 6/7/2016

On a trip to Florida, I discover an awkward secret about my father.

We've rented cabins on the beach. We're staying in the same cabin that my dad stayed in on his vacation not long ago. While sitting on a boulder in the front yard, a blonde girl approaches me. She's a local. Instantly, I recognize that she's the girl my dad's been sleeping with. My dad is in his late fifties. This girl looks younger than me. It can't be love, my dad's not that nice. Gold digger, definitely.

I avoid the girl and walk to the back of the cabin onto a deck overlooking the ocean. The ocean will be my therapy. The way in which the waves crash onto the sand, without a break, and the seagulls speaking their minds off in the distance, somehow brings me peace. But the sunset is my craving. Watching it go to sleep under the green waters is like watching a thousand romances. It warms my skin  Dream ends.
