Electric Feel

A Dream From The Past

I've returned to my old job at QRS Recycling. As I work, I fail at something, but I cannot remember. My supervisor, Justin, reprimands me in the break room. As he chews me out, I glance out the window. A garbage truck is driving through the parking lot with his back left up. He snags a power line and pulls it down. Since it is night, the workers cannot easily spot the wire. A worker accidentally touches it. The electric pulse soars through his body and throws him like a rag doll into the air. He falls lifeless to the ground.

Several workers, unaware of the situation, walk from the factory toward the break room. Many of them touch the live wire. Each is thrown similar to the first. Those of us in the break room run to warn those left. I hear sirens. I am afraid that I will die. I cannot die tonight. I run and hide, but I feel as if the electric wire will find me no matter where I conceal myself. Dream ends.

Sky Tubes

Dream 5/1/2018

There is a building in which I am not allowed. I can't be a part of the business that goes on inside. The industry of choir. The company of show. The building is big. Inside, there is a giant auditorium where the choir practices.

Somehow, I am offered a job in the choir. I will be paid $25.00/hour. When I walk through the ornate halls and reach the grand auditorium, I find that all who are in the choir are people I knew in high school. The man who directs the choir is a teacher from high school, Mr. Long.

In my high school gymnasium, the choir performs. Behind the bleachers, a vast playground of sky tubes is set up, the same kind that snotty toddlers crawl through at McDonald's or Chuck E. Cheese. A boy named Jordan is planning to sabotage the choir's performance. He begins to climb the sky tubes. I follow. At the top, it is more like a building with rooms. I sneak quietly through the halls searching for Jordan.

The play place comes crumbling down. I believe Jordan was the cause. Mr. Long is furious, and he begins yelling at me and others for the accident. I meet him later after he has cooled down. We sit at a machine that smashes items. I stick pieces of aluminum inside and watch it slowly crush them. While sitting there, I explain to Mr. Long what really happened that caused the playground to fall. That a boy named Jordan meant to sabotage his performance. He is happy that I told him the truth. Dream ends.

Strange and Wonderful

Dream 4/26/2018

I'm in a nearby town. I join a few strangers for pizza at a pizzeria. We sit at a table, which is, at times, inside the restaurant and, at times, outside. A presentation begins showcasing all the strange and beautiful people who have lived in this town. The unusual people start to appear. Giants, thirty feet tall, walk down the road. A man with a tree as a head stands up near where I am sitting. Most of who are talked about are giants. The master of ceremonies talks about how we need to bring more unique people to this town.

I am in a hotel room with Robert Stack filming an episode of Unsolved Mysteries. We are told a story of a girl who is supposedly buried twenty feet below the floor of this room. The manager of the hotel is present. He suggests that we move the bed over the spot where the girl is buried, and no one will know. We rearrange the room. The bed is tiny and looks as if it was built for little people. I ask the manager if he will tell guests of the buried girl. I say that if I knew I was sleeping twenty feet above a dead body, that I couldn't stay the night here.

A woman comes into the room and begins a witchcraft-type ritual. I kindly walk out and roam the hotel. I find an area that is only for me. In the prominent place are several pools and hot tubs. One pool has a basketball goal. There is one man in a hot tub. At the end of the room is a tiny skate bowl for skateboarding. A few very small, 70's styled skateboards are provided. I try to skate but cannot. The man from the hot tub tries to skate as well. He gives up. I lose my skateboard under the bowl, or maybe a curtain just feet away. I give up and leave.

We hear rumors that there is an area just for girls in the hotel. We distract the employees while several of us guys sneak inside. The lights are dimmed. There is a maze in the middle of the room. On the walls are flat-screen TVs with all of our names and a description of who we are. I find a screen that says Laverty, and it describes me as Cain from the Bible. But then I realize that it's a different Laverty. A screen a few screens away says, Keith Laverty. It describes me, but I cannot understand it. A girl next to me explains that I am the kind of guy who when rejected by a girl, becomes self-conscious. I tell her that I've never been turned down by a girl because I've never asked a girl out.

Most people leave the room. I linger behind. I find a book rack with two books that I wrote. My pen name on the books is Gooder Ralphio. The last name is different on both publications. I read the synopsis of one book to a girl standing nearby. It's about a man who flies an airplane which is missing a fin. I tell the girl that the man who wrote this book was born in Louisiana and grew up in Los Angeles. He became wealthy from writing these books and drove expensive cars. Dream ends.

The Coming Wrath

Dream 4/25/2018

I am watching a movie. The film is black and white. It's about World War II. Bruce Willis portrays a Nazi leader who is hunting down Jews in hiding, much like Col. Hans Landa in Inglorious Basterds.

Bruce Willis, in a long, leather overcoat, walks through stone corridors searching for a Jew. The Jewish man runs throughout the halls, trying his best to escape the coming wrath. Bruce finds a seat in a prison cell and makes a phone call. Boxes are stacked in front of the prison bars. While Bruce talks, the Jewish man ducks and crawls in front of the cell. The Nazi leader does not see him. Dream ends.

Wigwam

Dream 4/25/2018

I am trying to get home to Anderson, Indiana. I am a few towns away, but I am lost and can't find my way. I drive through a city in which I don't know the name. I drive aimlessly.

Somehow, I find the old Anderson high school gymnasium, the Wigwam. I park the Jeep and walk inside. There is a sports tournament being held. I get excited for a moment and hope to cheer on my school, Liberty when I realize that I've been out of school for ten years. I wouldn't even know any of the players. A bit saddened, I leave. Dream ends.

Room For Rent

Nightmare 4/25/2018

My friends Holly, Lynn and I have just finished a semester of university. Holly has secured me a room in a house full of guys, also strangers. Lynn has furnished the apartment. I go to the house to see it. It is tiny and cluttered, but I like that.

After the girls leave, I check out the room some more and realize that there is a door in the back. It opens to a staircase leading down. I walk the stairs and find a kitchen right out of the 1950s with red and white checkered tile floors. I walk into another room and find a man cave of sorts.

I walk through another door, and I am outside but under the house. The house is set up like a coastal home. The first floor is on stilts in case of a hurricane. I walk to one side of the down under and notice my neighbor behind a fence doing a funny dance. I can only hear the noise of their feet pattering the ground. In some odd way, I find it unsettling.

I walk back to my room. Since I am alone, I check out the rest of the house. I am suddenly overcome with a sense of fear. I don't feel alone, but I don't feel as if the person with me is human or sound. The place I am living in is scaring me. I don't see anything, but I can feel it. I should leave, but I don't. Dream ends.

Hooligans

Dream 4/14/2018

Four boys from my sister's high school class are going to stay the night at our house. We pack into the car. Over the radio, a voice thanks us for taking the Columbine memorial entrance to the school. I ask a boy named Michael if he saw the memorial. He did. I ask him if it was dark or if the lights were on. It was dark. My mom and I tell him that we wouldn't be able to see the memorial because of the darkness and the subject matter.

Michael and I walk fifty yards to an open gate. We need to shut it. A few girls are walking out of the gate. We tell them that this gate needs to remain closed. One girl gets an attitude and becomes hostile toward me. I call her a bitch. She drops the bags she is holding and raises her fists for a fight. We dance. I beat her down.

My sister, Morgan, is missing. We believe she entered a nearby barn. A few of us boys walk into the barn. I see several girls in the back corner. I walk up a flight of metal stairs to a catwalk. When standing above, I witness the horror. Three girls are torturing and mutilating my sister. I jump down from the catwalk and fight the girls off. Morgan hasn't sustained any serious injury, but we take her to the hospital anyway. The group takes a boy to the hospital as well. This boy was popping his jaw to impress his friends until it got stuck, and he accidentally bit off his tongue.

In the hospital, my sister has transformed into a baby. A nurse walks into the room to give my sister a shot with an odd, square device. I am suspicious of this nurse. I think she is one of the girls who was torturing my sister. I grab my baby sister and run. We leave the hospital. I look around as I climb into my Jeep. The nurse finds me. She is holding the square needle device. She has evil intentions. She tries to stab Morgan with it. I stop her. I start punching her, and I don't stop. I beat her with the device until her eyes fall out.

My pet lion walks into my bedroom. My feline cat Tandy annoys the lion. The lion roars and growls. I get nervous for Tandy. He knows not what he does. I stand up and calm the lion. Dream ends.

Extermination

Nightmare 4.5.2018

I am shopping at a grocery store. While browsing the frozen foods aisle, I hear scurrying behind me and a strange moaning sound. I look and see two men with masks. One man wears a dirty, hockey goalie mask, like Jason Voorhees. I overhear several shoppers make suspicious comments that today there is supposed to be a shooting at this grocery store. I don't know if this information is true or false, but I hurry up and grab the last few items that I need. Several times I leave my cart and start walking to the exit but then change my mind and return to my shopping. I finish up and walk to the check-outs. At first, it looks as if no check-out is open. All the lights are off. Then, a woman in the dark says that her lane is open. It is so dark, I can't see my groceries or the lady checking me out.

Two guys from my high school class, (we'll call them) Bob and Jay, are planning on shooting up the local grocery store. I help them. We stand by the junk food. Bob tells me just to open whatever I want and eat it. He points to a box of snack cakes with colorful sprinkles. I start knocking packages off the shelf. We pull handguns from our clothes and carefully jog through the supermarket. When we see a person, we kill them. I find it hard to aim the pistol, but I still murder a few unsuspecting shoppers. Someone alerts the police. They show up through a side door. When I see them, I shoot at them, and they shoot at me. The thought that I could die crosses my mind. A load of shopping carts separates us. I raise up and shoot, but I miss. I sneak around the carts so they can't see me. I pop up near them. I mow down one and then the other. I pick up one of the officer's shotguns and run around the store murdering innocent people.

There are two female officers on one island I am on the next. I hear them talking. The shelves near me hold thousands of bottles of wine and other alcoholic beverages. I start taking the bottles and throwing them at the officers. I slowly walk forward as I throw, hoping that I'm getting closer to their position, as I can only hear them. At the end of the aisle, I pop out. The two officers are standing with their shopping carts about fifteen feet apart. I shoot one and then the other.

There is a hallway at the side of the store. There are no lights, but I can see that there are a few rooms and a ladder leading up. I climb the ladder to see where it leads. It leads to nowhere. Later that night, Bob and Jay will throw a grenade up the ladder and create a hole. They will then climb into the hole, which is giving off toxic gas. They will wait there until they die. I will hide down in the room below them. The toxicity of the gas will not harm me.

My mom and I are shopping at a grocery store at around 1 AM. I tell her about a dream I had where a mass shooting took place at the supermarket at 1:30 AM. She pulls out her cell phone and calls the police. I become stressed with her, telling her that it was only a dream. She calls the police anyway. They arrive and arrest the alleged shooter. Dream ends.

Small Town

Dream 3/29/2018

I've moved back to my childhood town of Markleville, Indiana. It's grown a lot since I've moved away. My dad has given me his white Ford F-150. I'm driving it back to my new house. I drive up and down the main road through town looking for my home but cannot find it.

I drive back through town. At a four-way stop, there is a flagger. Some construction is taking place. It is hard to see what the flagger is commanding. He yells at me to go. I become stressed and speed through the intersection. I pull over in a parking lot, then I turn around.

When pulling out, I notice a car that looks stalled on the road. There is a car behind it full of girls. They become so angry at the stalled car that they ram it, causing the stalled car to almost hit me. They then speed off. I get so mad at this that I take off in their direction. I push the pedal to the metal and drive right up on their tail. They notice me. They become scared. For a moment, I consider ramming them off the road, but then I remember the nice truck I am driving. They almost fly off the road in fear, but I slow down and head back towards town.

I park the truck hoping that the girls don't find it and trash it. I walk up the main road in town looking at the different shops and restaurants. I see a Dairy Barn, probably sells ice cream. I pass a little shed called Jack's Candy. There are pictures on the outside wall depicting the types of treats sold there. One item looks like a Rice Krispy Treat with M&M's and nuts in it. Next to the candy shop is a Tuna Melt Sandwich shop. That is where I intend on eating. I walk towards it. Dream ends.

Weird Space

Dream 3/23/2018

I quietly roam through a land that is foreign to me. I come upon a group of houses. All of the doors are open. People are inside. I hide in the shadow of one house, hoping that nobody will see me. All of a sudden, shots ring out. A man is shooting me through his window. This raises the attention of all who live here. I make a run for it.

I board a spaceship. The vessel is crewed by family members. We shoot off into space like a bullet. I ask my sister where we are going next. "Saturn," she says.

We land on the planet called Saturn, next to a gas station. Many of us go inside the establishment to use the restroom and stock up on junk food. I immediately notice a woman who stands around seven feet tall. She walks past me. I sit down on a bench with another humanoid woman. She tells me about her friend Harrison Ford, but she says that he is nine Harrisons tall.

I notice a shelf full of books. One book grabs my attention. It looks like the Bible, but I wouldn't think that Saturn would have a Bible. I pick it up. The title of the book is The Holy Boozoog. I buy the book and run it out to the ship to show my sister. We get a kick out of it. Dream ends.

Mardi Vegas

Dream 3/22/2018

I'm in a dormitory. Each room is set up like a child's room. The lighting in each room looks as if it's lit by a lava lamp. My friend has a dresser with a TV sitting on top. On the TV is a map. If I place my hand on the furniture, I can fast travel to any location on the map. In the middle of the map is an island. It is a place where the worlds of Las Vegas and Mardi Gras collide. I choose to go there. The teleportation does not work. I am still in the dorm.

I walk to the room across from my friend's. I look in the closet. Covering the shelves are snakes. I throw something at them to see if they are real. When the object hits them, they start to move.

I put my hand on another dresser. I look at the map and choose a location about eight hours away from my previous choice.

I teleport. This time it works.

This new place is more isolated, more spooky, more dead. There is a nearby haunted house. I've been there before. My purpose is to make it to my previous choice, the Las Vegas/Mardi Gras choice and to become their evil leader. It takes eight hours, but I finally make it to my destination. Dream ends.

Figurines

A Dream From The Past

My father and I pay a visit to Liberty Christian elementary school. While he goes inside, I find a secret, grassy footpath. I follow it. At the end of the path are many Native American figurines. I start gathering them. With the dolls in my arms, I search for my dad's truck but cannot call to mind where he parked. My dad exits the school and becomes furious with me for my bad memory.

Later that day, my dad and I are shopping at a galleria. I converse with strangers in an Australian accent. I wander through the mall, collecting stuffed animals as I go. I deliver them to a small store in the back, a corner where nobody shops. Dream ends

Michael Follows

A Nightmare From The Past

My family and I take a trip to a hotel. When in our room, Michael Myers, the slasher, shows up. We shoot him in the head. Thinking that he is dead, we leave.

The Family splits. They go east. I go west toward Missouri, but it's a mistake. I walk under a bridge and find a load of books on the concrete. I take a book that tells me something about Michael and his power and origin. A homeless man becomes angry that I took his text. Another gentleman comes and helps the argument. I'm allowed to have two books. The homeless man and the mediator walk over to the busy highway and start acting in a movie scene. I move along.

Near the sidewalk where everyone walks, I see Michael in civilian clothes but still wearing his mask. I run. I run for my life.

My family reunites at another hotel. We stand on the balcony. Looking a few floors down, we see Adam Sandler on a lower terrace. Without warning, three beautiful women on higher balconies jump off and fall to Adams. I feel that something is wrong. We grab the kids and run to the elevator. During the ride down, my brother-in-law is possessed by Michael. We escape him. We run throughout the hotel trying to make it outside.

In the end, we find ourselves at a church in the countryside where a wedding is taking place. I help an old man to his van, but it's not his vehicle. We click his beeper and a car at the corner of the gravel lot lights and sounds. In his car, I find an arsenal of guns. I take two large silver pistols and run into the church. I break up the wedding and tell everyone to leave. Michael is coming.

Michael comes, but this time he is a dark, flying demon. All who is there load up with guns from the old man's car. I grab a shotgun. Michael floats around the rafters of the church. I shoot at him several times, aiming for his face. I feel that if I shoot him in the face, it will kill him for good. We continue the firefight. I run out of slugs for my weapon. I run back out to the car to load back up again. This shotgun is strange, It releases a cartridge to load several different sized slugs into. I've never seen anything like it. When I return to the fight, I shoot Michael in the face. He disappears. I don't see him again after that. Dream ends.

Weenie Roast

A Dream From The Past

My father's company is holding a barbecue at our house in Middletown, Indiana. Everyone is having a splendid time. I walk through the party looking for my dad and sister, Kristen. I am unable to locate them. I do some digging and find out that my dad and sister fell into the meat grinder and were killed. Sadness gives me a lovely punch square in the face. I look around. Those attending the party are still having fun. This is a paradox of emotion.

Four beautiful girls and I pack into a car and drive to the mall. We cruise through a parking garage. We drive through the central part of town.

Across the road from where I live is usually a cornfield. Today, it is an ocean. The party-goers gather at the beach. Many of us run up a nearby dock. There is a whale in the water. Some of those at the party wants to kill the whale. I want to save it. I get in the water to rescue the animal. I see my dad and sister on the shore. Dream ends.

Respect the Wind

A Dream From The Past

My mom and I talk about a paradise that we have visited. A perfect place, except for the many days of rain. I can't recall the name, but it sounds like Hawaii.

We move to Las Vegas. This is the paradise that we believed in, although, the place we described was quite different.

I stand outside in the front yard when off in the distance, I see a black tornado. It isn't clear yet whether the twister is coming our way. I run inside and tell my mom of the storm. My mom, a kid, named Joseph, and I run down into the basement. My sister Kristen is asleep in her bedroom, which is at the entry to the basement. My mom tries to convince her to wake up to avoid the danger. She stays in bed.

While hiding in the corner of the basement, I can hear the tornado getting louder. It is very close to our house. I run to my sister's room and yell at her to get up. To seek shelter. Once again, she declines until she hears the sound of the storm tearing her room apart. She sees how important the situation has become and decides to seek shelter, but it is too late. The black tornado sucks her out of her bedroom window. The rest of us hide.

When the storm is over, we turn into an Italian family. My name is probably Vinny Santoro or something like that. A family friend comes over to ask a favor. He wants to rebuild my sisters demolished bedroom. For how much? He says, $25,000.00. My little Italian brother, standing next to me, assumes that mom will never go for that. I tell him to let me talk to mom and see what I can do. The family friend is pleased.

I walk into my deceased sister's room. Everything is painted white. Glass cupboards and shelves are everywhere. One of our cleaning ladies, an older woman, is in one of the cabinets working. A young cleaning lady walks in. I go to her, and we embrace. I begin to cry. Dream ends.

Treatment

Dream 3/11/2018

I have dialysis treatment. The clinic is inside an arcade. Earlier, I played a game in a secret corner of the arcade. The game wanted me to place three objects in the right order; a lion (yellow), electricity (blue) and fire (red).

Halfway through my treatment, I do something in which I am not supposed to do. I unhook myself from the dialyzer machine. Much of my blood is still in the device and will most likely clot. The lack of blood in my body causes me weakness.

I walk to the arcade game in the secret corner. After a few tries of putting the three objects in the wrong order, I finally get it correct. For my reward, I am given a car in another arcade game that looks like a leopard made by Hot Wheels.

I leave the clinic/arcade and find myself on a dusty road in the middle of nowhere. My weakness is causing me trouble. I hitch a ride from a passing stranger, who takes me back to a different clinic. I walk through the door, where the nurses can see me, and collapse onto the floor. "I need treatment," I say in a hushed but urgent voice. Dream ends.

Cinnamon

Dream 3/11/2018

A top executive at World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has created an NFL football team in the state of Nebraska.

I watch in the stadium as the team plays or has a practice. I cannot remember the team mascot, although I believe it is a bird. The jerseys portray designs of feathers on them. Their colors are light blue and white.

I walk to the concessions area, which isn't as open as the stadiums I've visited. Nobody is here. I walk around the entire stadium through fifty different rooms. Each room has a massive amount of recently baked cinnamon rolls. I've been told that the stadium is trying to make a name for itself by selling its own cinnamon rolls. Apparently, the baked goods are not selling. So here I am, walking through the edges of the stadium, through rooms filled with thousands and thousands of cinnamon rolls.

The owner has hired a clean-up company to come in and fix our mistake. One of our janitorial workers argues with the lady from the cleaning company, who only wants to clean part of the stadium. Our janitor talks her into cleaning the whole place. Dream ends.

Water Water Everywhere

Dream 2.23.2018

My youth group is traveling to the city. When we get there, we head for our intended spot. It has been raining, and flooding is possible. Before we get to where we are going, a member of our group foresees massive flooding come our way. We start running in the other direction, back from where we came. Nobody around us knows what is about to happen. Giant waves begin to crash all around us. Water starts pouring in from above. We run as fast as we can. I have the same feeling in the pit of my stomach as when I saw the twin towers fall.

We narrowly escape the flood and make it back to our suburban home. Somehow, we know that we are some of the only people who made it out alive. We enter the garage and see that the bottom half of the garage door is missing. Someone, or something, has broken into our house. I search the house and find a band of raccoons scavenging throughout the place. We shoo them out. Matthew McConaughey is here with us. All of us stand in the garage looking out the large, glass door toward the neighborhood. We see the silhouette of a man walking toward us. He is going to break in. I tell my dad to watch the side door. I ask if I should go watch over the opposite side of the house. The man tries to enter the house, but we stop him.

We are near where the flood tried to do us in. We stand under an overpass. We are about to be bombarded by evildoers. Many weapons lay on the ground. I grab a revolver. I pick up to types of ammo and ask the man next to me, which would be best. I load the gun with the bullets that he suggests. Then they come. The rats of society. The scum of the earth. A wall of people who mean to hurt us walk our direction. I try my best to shoot, but my revolver isn't good at long range. I wait until another member of my group mows someone down and then I walk over to the body and plant a bullet in their head to make sure they are dead. I run up a nearby concrete flood control channel and shoot a man at the top. The rest of my group reaches the top as well and makes a run for it. Dream ends.

Sad Ale

Dream 2/11/2018

My mom and I are driving down a country road. I want to show her a song that I found called "Ridin' On" by the band Little Caesar. I start to play it. My mom gets angry and tells me to turn it off. I'm baffled at her reaction. I tell her that the song is about a Los Angeles DJ named Lee who was killed in a hit and run motorcycle crash. She is adamant that the song is terrible.

We arrive at a birthday party for my cousin. When I step out of the car, I am immediately greeted by an old friend of mine, Troy, from the Honor Academy. At the HA, we were best friends. I run and hug him and give my best Cory Matthews impression, "Shawny!" I yell.

I sit in the living room with cousins, aunts, and uncles playing a party game. Don't tell anyone but I hate party games. The point of this game is to go around and tell your first name and then you must read a line on a card that has been given to you. My turn comes around, "my name is Keith..." I read the paper, "..S A D ALE..." The card is gibberish. I don't even know how to read it. The group ends up skipping my turn when I forget to finish and instead stare off into the distance.

At another area of the party, Troy and some others are playing a video game, a first-person shooter online multiplayer. The strange thing is that the game is not on the screen, but it's real life. I find myself underground with Troy. We are wearing battle gear. When I see someone come down the stairs, I pull out a bow and arrow and start releasing a barrage of arrows his way. I take him down. I run to the other entrance to the basement and see two others. I start shooting. Troy is crouched behind a wall, protecting himself as he battles on.

At the end of the round, I walk to a bathtub and clean myself. My naked body is on display to all party guests. For the most part, I am not embarrassed. When finished, I grab a basket of clothes and start to walk to my Jeep, which is parked up the street a bit. Troy follows me and tries to convince me to play another round. I tell him that I will as soon as I put the clothes in my car. He begs for me to play now. I say to him that I need to put my clothes in the Jeep. He relents.

I run to my Jeep, aware that others are watching me. It's strange, but I am more embarrassed now than I was in the bathtub. I make it to my Jeep and shove the basket inside. As I walk back toward the party, I see a friend from high school named Doug. He is standing by his blue pickup truck. A squirrel has somehow managed its way inside and is running like mad all around the vehicle. Doug is trying his best to get it out. I walk by and pretend that I don't see the situation. If I see and Doug knows that I know, he will expect me to help. I walk on by, my eyes looking to the ground.

I'm standing around an eating area with Troy and a few others from the Honor Academy. We're talking about college. One of the former interns tells Troy that he needs to quit many of his classes, including the TRI class. I force myself into the conversation to say that I did go to college for one semester and then dropped out because I hated it. Another person standing nearby says that he hated college as well. Dream ends.

Chills and Thrills

Dream 2/9/2018

I am working at a nursing home. It is pitch black at night, and I am scared. The next day, I quit.

A few friends and I walk across a snow-laden field. On the other side, we find and kill four teenagers. We cross the area back to our home. We hope that we are not detected by the police.

An ocean lies near our house. My mom and I swim around the sea. She tells me about someone she passed in the water, which was drowning. When we swim that direction, we see a lifeguard saving the man's life. The ocean is only 50 yards long. Hotels are lining the other side of the water.

We walk down a beach on the other side. My brother-in-law points toward the horizon where fireworks are exploding in the night sky. Down the beach is a thrill ride. Two giant swings that hold around twenty people each are lifted back and then released. It's similar to Skyhawk at Cedar Point. We watch as the two swings go back and forth. One swing gets out of control and almost crashes into the side beam.

We find our seats on the swing. As we wait, I sing Rainbow Connection. The ride is just about to start, and I realize that my belt is not buckled.
